Thanks for Record 9,000 Coats Given to Coat-A-Kid Campaign 2012

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- Don’s Dry Cleaning & Laundry Fine Drycleaning , the Salvation Army and Evansville Christian Life Center report the tri-state donated a record 9,000 coats to this yearโ€™s annual Coat-A-Kid drive โ€“ and theyโ€™re thanking the community for their generous giving.

โ€œThe need in this area was greater than weโ€™ve seen before, but there were enough coats this year to fill every request,โ€ Don’s Dry Cleaning & Laundry owner Steve Schmitt says. โ€œLast year we ran out of coats before we ran out of kids who needed them. So we were happy to have enough this year โ€“ and want to thank everybody who donated.โ€

Since the Coat-A-Kid program began in 1986, Don’s Dry Cleaning & Laundry has cleaned almost 140,000 coats โ€” all given by the community โ€” and worked with the Salvation Army and Evansville Christian Life Center to distribute them to area infants, children and teens.

This year the Evansville IceMen helped kick off the Coat-A-Kid campaign at Dexter Elementary School. The IceMen also a gave a free hockey game ticket for every coat dropped off at the IceMenโ€™s โ€œCoat-A-Kidโ€ night.
