Coat-A-Kid 2011 Kicks Off at Dexter Elementary
The annual Don’s Dry Cleaning & Laundry Coat-A-Kid Campaign kicked off November 15th at Dexter Elementary School, where the Evansville IceMen took part in the event.
Since the Coat-A-Kid program began in 1986, Don’s Dry Cleaning & Laundry has cleaned more than 130,000 coats, all given by the community and distributed to children and teens in need by the Salvation Army and Evansville Christian Life Center.
“It’s always a great day when we kick off Coat-A-Kid with area students, and having the Evansville IceMen with us will add to the kids’ excitement,” Don’s Dry Cleaning & Laundry owner Steve Schmitt says. “Unfortunately, we have really seen the need for coats grow over the past few years, so we hope coat donations increase this season. Last year we ran out of coats before we ran out of kids who needed one.”
Don’s Dry Cleaning & Laundry will accept new and gently used coats for infants, children and teens through Dec. 31 at any of its 10 locations in Evansville and Newburgh.
